Abstract
We report a rare case of orbital hemangiopericytoma with literature review. A 51-year-old man was admitted with the complaints of painless exophthalus and decreased visual acuity in the right for one year. Computerized tomography and magnetic resonance image showed a round and well-capsulated mass in the right orbit. Those radiological findings showed that the mass was situated at the superior and medial side in the orbit, and strongly enhanced. The lesion had multiple signal voided vessels on the tumor surface in the magnetic resonance images. A complete total resection was performed by frontoorbital craniotomy and incision of periorbital fascia. Pathological diagnosis including immunohistochemistry was comfirmed as an hemangiopericytoma. One month after the surgery the exophthaus was disappeared completely and the visual acuity was improved. This report introduces preoperative diagnosis and management of a rare case of orbital hemangiopericytoma. Also several important points for the surgery of orbital tumors are provided.
